• I'm having uploading problems, help me!

Having troubles uploading your sounds? We've collected the following successful troubleshooting tips from our users themselves:

    First off

Have you confirmed your email address? You can't upload sounds without confirming your email address. Check your inbox dude!

    Switch up your uploaders

SoundCloud offers two different native uploaders: the regular Flash uploader and the old-skool uploader. If you're experiencing problems with our Flash uploader, make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Flash installed. For uploading larger files, we recommend using the old-skool uploader instead.

You may also want to try out the desktop uploader Scup.

    Modify your anti-virus software settings

Most anti-virus software programs block uploads completely. If you use AVG, go to Settings and disable the Linkscanner, Resident shield, Surf Shield, and Webshield. For Kaspersky, Avast, and all other software, try disabling the program entirely for the duration of the upload. Finally, disable Flashblock and AdBlockers and add soundcloud.com to your list of trusted sites.

    Check your internet connection

Sometimes, upload interruptions can be blamed on a weak or spotty internet connection. We recommend using a cable connection rather than WiFi, particularly for larger files, because even a short WiFi connection timeout can interrupt the upload. If your track is stuck on "Creating waveform", wait it out a bit. However, if the track is stuck creating waveform for over 2 hours, get in touch with us and we'll check it out!

    Give another browser a try

If uploading works in another browser and not in the one you usually use, check the add-ons/extensions or proxy settings you have enabled on your usual one.

Still not working? Send us an email by clicking the link under "Need help from a human?" on the right hand side of the page. Be sure to include your username, a link to your track (if you have one), details about your setup (which uploader, anti-virus program, and internet connection you have, etc.), and a description of what's happening exactly. We're here to help get your sounds online!"
  • Where can I see how many minutes are left on my account?

Whenever you upload a track from the Upload & Send page, we will show you how many minutes are left for your account in a nifty player. That way you can easily track how much minutes are left on your account.
  • Just uploaded and my track is distorted

Sometimes our transcoding system can create audio artifacts, as we transcode all tracks to 128 kbps mp3 for streaming playback. Uploading a lossless or high-quality lossy file will usually reduce these to a minimum, but unfortunately there's not much we can do for the handful of individual tracks that are still affected.

If you choose to make your track downloadable though, the version users can download will be an exact copy of the version you uploaded, without any transcoding.
  • What formats can I upload?

We support AIFF, WAVE, FLAC, OGG, MP2, MP3, AAC, AMR and WMA files.
  • How many tracks can I upload & send with SoundCloud?

With a free SoundCloud account you get a total of 120 minutes, with no restrictions on filesizes. The Lite account comes with 240 minutes, the Solo account with 12 hours, the Pro account with 36 hours and Pro Plus has no limits. Go Premium Now!
  • How come I have no uploads left?

All our accounts come with total minute packs giving you the flexibility to add and remove tracks whenever you want within your total minute allowances. No limits on file sizes, great for HQ audio.
  • It says I have 120 minutes. Is that in total or monthly?

All our subscription plans come with a total of upload minutes/hours -- they don't reset every month. This also applies to yearly subscriptions. If you renew your yearly subscription, you are only securing the upload time you had previously. You can always easily remove and add new tracks within these total upload minutes.

If you need more room on your account, compare our Premium plans.
  • I'm getting a "Sharing changes is invalid", what does that mean?

This happens when a SoundCloud member attempts to upload a track to their own DropBox. Afraid that can't be done, i.e. to share a track to your own DropBox. You can upload tracks to your profile on the upload page!
  • Does SoundCloud convert my files to mono?

We don't modify the original for download. For the stream, we convert the original into MP3 Joint Stereo for streaming. It's only the waveform that gets mixed down to mono.
  • Where can I see how many minutes are left on my account?

You can check out how much you have left to upload on the Upload & Send page. There, you'll see how many minutes are left on your account right under the big 'Choose files' button, like in this image:
