DAW & AI Integrations

SoundCloud is currently integrated into most digital audio workstations (DAWs), allowing users of these tools to connect and upload songs directly to their SoundCloud account. This helps streamline your workflow to make sharing your work with the world as easy as possible.

We know different types of artists use different tools, so we’ve partnered with a wide variety of platforms, and are always looking to partner with more. Below is a list of some (but not all) of our current “Upload to SoundCloud” partners:

  • FL Studio
  • Logic
  • Garageband
  • Cubase
  • Ableton Live (version 10 and older)
  • Soundtrap
  • Studio One
  • Rapchat

We also recently announced new partnerships with three cutting-edge AI-powered platforms:

  • Fadr
  • Soundful
  • Voice-swap

How do these integrations work?

Each platform shows how to access the integration in different places. In most cases, the option to “Export to SoundCloud” or “Upload to SoundCloud” will be shown where you normally would export the track. Once you select this option, a pop-up should appear prompting you to sign in or up to SoundCloud and connect your account. From there, you will be asked to enter some basic information about your track, before finally clicking export.

Can I edit tracks once I upload them?

Yes, once you complete the above process within the DAW or creation tool, you will be able to see this track on your SoundCloud account. You will be able to edit this track and the information you entered once you are back on SoundCloud.

If I make a song with any of these platforms, can I monetize or distribute them?

It depends on the track you have created, and if you own all of the content used to create the track. Each of the platforms listed above differs in the ways they allow you to create content, however in order to monetize content on SoundCloud, you must own or have a license for the content used to create that track. Similarly, you are only permitted to distribute any music content that you control the rights to. Please do not attempt to distribute content where you do not control all aspects of the release (e.g. DJ mixes, unofficial remixes, content containing uncleared samples, etc.).

If I make a song with any AI platform, can it be monetized or distributed?

It depends on the platform. For Soundful and voice-swap, you will need to purchase the license directly from the platform before you are able to legally monetize or distribute that on SoundCloud. It is your sole responsibility to acquire this license. For Fadr, provided you have created an original track that contains no samples, other than the generic soundpacks that Fadr provides, you will retain the copyright.

For other generative AI tools, copyright ownership/administration varies, as does each platform’s ability to offer their end user with a license that grants monetization rights.
