Adding and Editing Artist Names & Labels
Your artist name is one of the main ways fans discover your music through search, so it’s important to keep your track metadata accurate and consistent.
When you upload a track, the artist name is automatically populated using the name of the account that uploaded it. However, you can customize how artist information appears by using the Artist field within your track’s metadata.
Using the Artist field
If the Artist field in the metadata section is filled out, it will override the profile name displayed on the track. This helps keep track titles clean and uncluttered, since artist names do not need to be included in the title itself.
To add or update an artist name for an existing track on the web:
Go to your track and click Edit (the pencil icon below the waveform artwork).
Navigate to the Metadata section.
Add or edit names in the Artist field.
Save your changes.
Adding Collaborators
If your track includes collaborators, add both your name and your collaborator’s name in the Artist field within the Metadata section. You don’t need to include collaborator names in the track title.
Both names will appear beneath the track, but keep in mind that clicking the artist name will only direct listeners to the uploader’s profile.
Uploading from label or media partner accounts
When uploading from a label or media partner account, title your tracks simply as “Track Title” and include all artist names in the Artist field instead. This keeps naming consistent and improves discoverability.
Adding Record Label and additional metadata
If a track is released under a record label, you can add this information in the Metadata tab of the track’s edit page.
You can also update track details from your Tracks page:
Go to your Tracks page.
Click the three dots next to a track.
Select Edit.
Under Advanced settings, add additional details such as:
Record label / Publisher
ISRC
Buy link
Other release information
Keeping your metadata complete helps listeners find your music more easily and ensures your tracks appear clean and professional across SoundCloud.
