Subscriptions, Payments & Billing FAQs

How do I know if my subscription is canceled?

To check if your subscription is canceled, login to your account on a computer and visit the Subscriptions page. Click the "Edit" button to manage your current subscription. If your plan status shows as EXPIRES, you will not be charged again in the future.

However, if your plan status shows as RENEWS, your subscription is still active, and you will be charged on the next payment date.

  3. Click Apple ID at the top of the screen.
  4. Click View Apple ID.

Google Play Store:

  1. Open the Google Play app.
  2. Tap the profile icon at the top right.
  3. Under "Subscriptions," check the list for expired subscriptions or those with declined payment methods.

How can I change my credit card or payment method?

If you want to change your credit card information, please note that this is not possible if you have already canceled your current subscription. You will need to purchase a new subscription after the current one expires. However, if your subscription is still active and has not been canceled, you can update your card details by signing into your account on a computer and navigating to your Subscriptions page.

What if I want to switch to PayPal or change my PayPal account?

If you are currently paying with a credit card and want to switch to PayPal, or if you want to update your PayPal information, you will need to make a new purchase. To do this:

  1. Cancel your current plan at the Subscriptions page.
  2. Wait until the plan expires. Some tracks may be hidden, but they will reappear after you re-purchase.
  3. Log in and visit the subscription page, choose your desired plan, and fill out the payment details.

If you are a PayPal-paying user, note that PayPal is currently unavailable for Go or Go+ subscriptions. Additionally, depending on your card or bank, you may see a small amount charged and immediately refunded as a test transaction to verify your new payment details. You will not be charged the regular amount until your account's next payment date.

How do I change my Artist Pro subscription from monthly to yearly payments?

To switch from a monthly to a yearly Artist Pro subscription, you will need to cancel your monthly subscription by visiting soundcloud.com/you/subscriptions on a computer. After canceling, wait for your subscription to expire. Once expires, head over to the SoundCloud Artist Pro page and make your yearly purchase. If you wish to switch from yearly to monthly payments, follow the same steps. Note that for Artist Pro subscribers via the Apple Store, only the yearly subscription is available. You may still purchase the monthly option directly through SoundCloud.

Why is my subscription price different after renewal?

When you purchase a plan, the initial purchase price is valid for the duration of your subscription until the automatic billing cycle ends. If you purchase a new subscription after the previous cycle expires, you will be charged the current price for the selected subscription. The previous price cannot be retroactively applied. You can always update your credit card details to maintain your current plan and pricing by visiting the Subscriptions page on a computer.

What if I purchased a subscription for the wrong account? Can I transfer it?

If you accidentally purchased a yearly Next Plus or Artist Pro subscription on the wrong account, we can help transfer it to the correct one. Please contact our Payments team and provide the profile URL of the account the subscription was purchased on and the account to which you'd like it transferred. Unfortunately, monthly subscriptions, including Go or Go+, cannot be transferred. In such cases, you will need to cancel the incorrect subscription and purchase a new one for the desired account.

What should I do if my payment has failed?

There are several reasons why your payment might have failed. First, confirm with your bank or PayPal that they are not blocking the payment to SoundCloud. Double-check the following:

Credit Card Issues:

  • Ensure your credit card details are correct (e.g., have you received a new card?).
  • Confirm that your bank account has sufficient funds.
  • Verify that your card has not expired or that the expiration date is correct.

PayPal Issues:

  • Check if your billing agreement with PayPal was canceled.
  • Confirm that PayPal approved the payment.
  • If your payment information was entered over a year ago, your details may need refreshing.

For subscriptions via Apple or Google Play, you will need to contact their respective customer service for billing or subscription questions, as SoundCloud does not have access to this information.

How do I address an unauthorized payment on my account?

If the payment is an automatic recurring charge for a plan you initialized, it is not considered unauthorized, and you may cancel future payments at the Subscriptions page. If you don’t recognize the payment and believe it to be unauthorized, check if any of your accounts have a SoundCloud Go or Pro subscription. If they do not, contact our Support team by filing a ticket, providing the cardholder's full name, the last four digits of the card number, and the transaction date. For PayPal payments, provide the PayPal Invoice ID or Item reference.

What payment methods do you accept?

Next Plus and Artist Pro:

  • Debit or credit card (Visa, MasterCard)
  • American Express
  • Diners Club
  • Discover
  • PayPal (requires a credit card)

Go/Go+ and SoundCloud DJ:

  • Debit or credit card (Visa, MasterCard)
  • American Express

What currencies do you accept?

SoundCloud currently offers its plans in several currencies, including Euros, US Dollars, British Pounds, Canadian Dollars, Australian Dollars, New Zealand Dollars, Swiss Francs, Danish Krone, Norwegian Krone, Swedish Krona, Japanese Yen, Egyptian Pound, Vietnamese Dong, Brazilian Real, and Nigerian Naira. If your currency is not listed, prices will default to USD. For other currency conversions, you can use an online currency converter. Note that your bank may charge international transaction fees, and prices may vary depending on the exchange rate on the day the charge is processed.
