How to Revoke Access and Secure Your SoundCloud Account

What should users do if they believe their SoundCloud account has been compromised?

If you suspect unauthorized access to your SoundCloud account:

  1. Revoke All Access:

    • Go to the “Connected applications” section of your SoundCloud settings by visiting https://soundcloud.com/settings.
    • Scroll down to the section and select the “Revoke all” option.
  2. Sign Out of All Devices:

    • When prompted, click “Revoke all and sign out.” This action will sign you out of all devices where your account is currently logged in, effectively removing access for any unauthorized users.

How can users secure their account after revoking access and what steps should be taken if a breach is suspected?

After revoking access:

  1. Update Your Password:
    • If you believe your password has been compromised, immediately change it to something strong and unique. Follow the steps provided in the SoundCloud Help Center for updating your password securely.
  2. Review Account Security:
    • After securing your account, review all connected applications and remove any that you do not recognize or no longer use. This ensures that only trusted apps have access to your account.
  3. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA):
    • For added security, enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your account. This will require a second layer of verification (such as a code from an authentication app) when signing in, making it more difficult for unauthorized users to access your account.

How should users deal with potential breaches and ensure their SoundCloud account remains secure?

To manage potential breaches:

  1. Monitor Account Activity: Regularly check your account for any unusual activity, such as unfamiliar logins or changes to your settings. If you notice anything suspicious, take immediate action by revoking access and updating your security settings.
  2. Secure Your Linked Accounts: If your SoundCloud account was compromised, check any linked accounts (e.g., email, social media) to ensure they remain secure. Change passwords and enable security features like 2FA on these accounts as well.
  3. Stay Informed: Keep up with SoundCloud’s security updates and recommendations to ensure your account remains protected against new threats.
