How do I apply for the SoundCloud Go+ Student subscription?

Here’s a step-by-step guide to applying for the Go+ Student subscription:

Sign into your main SoundCloud account:

• Ensure you’re logged into the correct account that you want to use for the student subscription.

Navigate to the “Subscriptions” page:

• Select the option “Are you a student?” and click on it.

Start your 30-day free trial:

• Click on “Start your 30-day free trial” to begin the process.

Upload your student information and documents:

• Upload the necessary information and official student documents. If you don’t have them handy, you can upload them later via the email reminder from SheerID. Your application will remain active for up to 7 days before it expires.

Verification by SheerID:

• After signing up, you will be transferred to SheerID, SoundCloud's partner for verification. Your student details will be assessed, and you will receive an email confirmation within a few days. Ensure that the email address associated with your SoundCloud account is correct because if a different email is verified, the discount will not be applied, and you’ll need to contact SoundCloud support to resolve the issue.

My subscription price has increased to full price. Why is that?

Student subscriptions need to be reverified every 12 months. If you didn’t reverify in time, your subscription would renew at the full price. You can verify your student status through SheerID here, and upon successful verification, the discount will be applied to your next renewal.

My student application was denied by SheerID. What should I do?

The verification process is handled by SheerID. If you have any questions about eligibility, please create a support ticket directly with SheerID here. SoundCloud cannot manually override these requirements.

I was successfully verified as a student, but it’s not showing on my account. What should I do?

Sometimes users verify an email address that isn’t connected with their Go+ account. First, confirm with SheerID which email address was verified, and then share this information with SoundCloud support so they can assist in transferring the verification to the correct account.

I am already subscribed to Go+ with Apple / Google Play. Will my student discount be applied?

Student subscriptions are only available directly through SoundCloud here. If you are already subscribed to Go+ through Apple or Google Play stores, you will need to cancel your next renewal. How long does the Go+ Student verification process take?

Verification processing times depend on the application, and it can take longer if documents are missing or the application is incomplete. If there are missing documents, the application will remain active for 7 days before it expires. Any questions related to the status of your application can be clarified with SheerID directly here.

I cannot apply for the Go+ Student subscription because my status is "pending." What should I do?

We have limits on how many times you can apply. We suggest waiting for 30 days and then trying again. You can also try using a different email address with another account if that helps.

How many times can I apply for the Go+ Student subscription?

You can apply up to 5 times per month. After 30 days, you can apply again if necessary.

What happens to my Go+ Student subscription once I am no longer eligible?

If you’re no longer a student after 12 months, you will lose eligibility for the SoundCloud Go+ Student discount, and your subscription will automatically renew at the normal SoundCloud Go+ price unless you opt out before renewal.
