DAW & AI Integrations

  1. What is SoundCloud's integration with digital audio workstations (DAWs)?

    • SoundCloud is integrated into most DAWs, allowing users to connect and upload songs directly to their SoundCloud account. This integration streamlines the workflow, making it easy to share your work with the world. SoundCloud partners with a variety of platforms, including FL Studio, Logic, Garageband, Cubase, Ableton Live (version 10 and older), Soundtrap, Studio One, and Rapchat.

  2. What are some of the AI-powered platforms recently partnered with SoundCloud?

    • SoundCloud has announced new partnerships with three cutting-edge AI-powered platforms: Fadr, Soundful, and Voice-swap.

  3. How do these DAW and AI platform integrations work with SoundCloud?

    • Each platform may display the “Export to SoundCloud” or “Upload to SoundCloud” option in different locations. Generally, this option will be found where you normally export the track. After selecting this option, a pop-up will prompt you to sign in or sign up for SoundCloud and connect your account. You’ll be asked to enter some basic information about your track before finally clicking export.

  4. Can tracks uploaded through these integrations be edited on SoundCloud?

    • Yes, once the track is uploaded through the DAW or creation tool, it will appear on your SoundCloud account. You can then edit the track and the information you entered directly on SoundCloud.

  5. Can songs created with these platforms be monetized or distributed on SoundCloud?

    • It depends on the track and whether you own all the content used to create it. Each platform has different rules regarding content creation, but to monetize on SoundCloud, you must own or have a license for the content used. Similarly, you can only distribute music content that you control the rights to. Content like DJ mixes, unofficial remixes, or tracks with uncleared samples cannot be distributed.

  6. Can songs created with AI platforms be monetized or distributed on SoundCloud?

    • It depends on the platform. For Soundful and Voice-swap, you must purchase a license directly from the platform before you can legally monetize or distribute the content on SoundCloud. It’s your responsibility to acquire this license. For Fadr, if you create an original track without using samples other than Fadr’s generic soundpacks, you retain the copyright. For other generative AI tools, copyright ownership and administration vary, as do the platforms' ability to offer licenses granting monetization rights.

  7. Comparison of AI Platforms:

  • Fadr:

Allows users to retain the copyright for original tracks created using their soundpacks, enabling easy monetization and distribution on SoundCloud.

  • Soundful:

Requires users to purchase a license to monetize or distribute content created with their platform.

  • Voice-swap:

Similar to Soundful, a license purchase is necessary for legal monetization or distribution.
