What type of file formats can I upload to SoundCloud?

SoundCloud supports various audio formats. For the best quality, it is recommended to upload in lossless formats such as WAV, FLAC, AIFF, or ALAC. SoundCloud also supports a variety of lossy formats including OGG, MP2, MP3, AAC, AMR, and WMA. The maximum file size allowed is 4GB uncompressed, and files longer than 24 hours cannot be uploaded.

Will my file be available for streaming in high quality on SoundCloud?

Yes, if you upload a stereo file in a lossless format like WAV, FLAC, AIFF, or ALAC, SoundCloud will transcode it into a high-quality format optimized for music streaming, such as AAC 256 kbps.

What is the best file format to upload to SoundCloud?

For optimal quality, it is recommended to upload in a lossless format like WAV, FLAC, AIFF, or ALAC with a bit depth of 16-bit and a sample rate of 48 kHz. To prevent artifacts like clipping during transcoding, leave between -0.5 and -1 dBFS of headroom before uploading.

What should I do if my file exceeds the maximum size or duration allowed on SoundCloud?

If your file exceeds the 4GB size limit or is longer than 24 hours, you will need to split it into separate uploads.

  • Update Your Browser and OS: Ensure you are using the latest versions of your browser and operating system.
  • Confirm Email Address: Make sure your email address is confirmed in your account settings.
