Direct messaging on SoundCloud is where the community happens. Use DMs to collaborate with other artists, share your latest WIPs, or connect directly with your fans.

How to Send or Reply to a Message

• On Web: Click the envelope icon in the top-right navigation bar. Select a conversation to expand it. To start fresh, click "Write new" or visit an artist’s profile and click the envelope icon.

• On Mobile (iOS & Android): Tap the envelope icon at the top right of your Home screen.

Pro-Tip: You can tag other creators in a message by typing @ followed by their Profile URL.

Sharing Tracks and Playlists

Sharing music via DM is the best way to get feedback or pitch a demo.

• From the Waveform: Click the Share button below any track or playlist and select the Message tab. Type in the recipient's name or Profile URL.

• Within a Chat: * Web: Click "Add track" to choose from your own uploads, or simply paste a SoundCloud URL to embed the waveform.

  • Mobile: Tap the waveform icon next to the text box to select a track.

Mass Messaging and Spam

Can I message all my followers at once? We do not offer a mass-messaging tool. At SoundCloud, we value authentic 1:1 connections over broadcasts. No one likes a crowded inbox full of generic links.

• The Alternative: If you want to reach everyone at once, share your track publicly. This ensures it lands in all of your followers' Feeds where they can listen, repost, and share it with their own networks.

Managing Your Inbox

• Deleting a Conversation: Click the trash can icon at the top of a chat to archive it.

  • Note: Deleting a thread only removes it from your view; it will still be visible to the recipient. If either of you sends a new message, the full history will reappear.

• Reporting Spam: When you delete a conversation, you’ll have the option to report it. Please do this for any unsolicited ads or bot activity—it helps our Trust & Safety team keep the community clean.

• Individual Messages: You cannot delete a single message within a thread once it’s been sent. Double-check your links and typos before hitting send!
