Using the Fans Tool

At SoundCloud, we value fans as the key to an artist’s success. Using Fan Powered Royalties and fan engagement data, Fans identifies an artist’s top fans and helps build meaningful connections with them and their community. More on Fan-Powered Royalties here.

Who can access the Fans tool?

Currently, this tool is in beta and available to Artist Pro subscribers. Because we use Fan-Powered Royalties (FPR) data to identify your top listeners, your tracks must be monetized on SoundCloud.

  • Independent Artists: Once you monetize your tracks, you’ll be eligible the following month.

  • Label Artists: If your music is licensed through a label or distributor, check with them to ensure your music is on the Fan-Powered Royalties model.

  • Basic Artists: To get started, upgrade to Artist Pro.

How many fans can I message at once?

We’re here to help you build authentic 1:1 relationships, not send mass blasts. To keep conversations meaningful and prevent spam, the tool is designed for individual messaging with a limit of 50 messages per day. If you hit the limit, just wait 24 hours to pick the conversation back up.

When is my fan data updated, and why might it be missing?

Your fan list refreshes during the first week of every month. If you’re monetizing but don’t see stats yet, hang tight—we are rolling this out to more Artist Pro subscribers over the next few months. In the meantime, keep promoting your tracks to generate the listener signals we need to build your list.

How does the Fans tool differ from standard Insights?

Think of Insights as your "performance report" (how your music is doing) and Fans as your "action plan" (who to talk to). While Insights shows trends, the Fans tool combines listener signals—like repeat plays, comments, and shares—with Fan-Powered Royalty data to give you a prioritized list of real people to connect with.

Are more features coming?

Definitely. We’re just getting started, and our mission is to make connecting with fans effortless. This is a beta version of the tool, so your input is vital. Feel free to share your thoughts with our AI Agent—they’ll pass your feedback directly to our product team to help shape what we build next.
