Add an email address to your RSS feed
Some podcast apps, like Spotify, require a valid email address to use their service. You can choose to show or hide your email on your Content Settings page and update it anytime.
How to add an Email Address in your SoundCloud RSS Feed:
- Use your credentials to log in to your SoundCloud account.
- Access your content settings by clicking the three dots at your profile's top right and selecting “Settings.” Then, go to the “Content” tab.
- Decide Whether to Display Your Email Address
- Display Your Email Address: If you want your email address to be shown in your RSS feed (recommended for avoiding rejections from podcast apps like Spotify): Check the option to display your email address.
- Hide Your Email Address: If you prefer not to show your email address (default option): Uncheck the option to display your email address. SoundCloud will instead display the email "feeds@soundcloud.com" in your RSS feed.
- Regularly check if your podcast is being accepted by all platforms.
What happens if I hide my email address in the RSS feed?
If you hide your email address, SoundCloud will display "feeds@soundcloud.com" in your RSS feed. However, this might cause some podcast apps, like Spotify, to reject your RSS feed because they require a valid, personal email address to be listed. This ensures that the app can contact you if necessary and helps verify the authenticity of your content.
Please note: While you can choose not to display your personal email address, be aware that this might prevent some podcast apps from accepting your RSS feed. If you encounter issues, consider allowing your email address to be shown in the feed.
What should I do if my RSS feed is rejected by an app due to email issues?
If your RSS feed is rejected by an app because it does not display a valid email address, you should:
- Go to your Content Settings page.
- Choose to display your personal email address in the RSS feed.
- Resubmit your RSS feed to the podcast app.
