Dispute a content ownership-related takedown

If a track has been taken down from your account, it was either:

  • Recognized by our Content ID system as containing copyrighted material, or

  • Reported by a third-party claiming copyright on it.

In the second step of the dispute process, we need you to clarify who created or owns the content you’re uploading. This helps us verify whether you are entitled to have the track on your account.

Important: Ownership refers to holding the track's copyrights, not owning a digital, CD, or vinyl copy.

 

Choose the option that best describes your upload:

  1. All my own work (or the work of someone I represent)

    • Use this if the track is original and you created it, or if you are working on behalf of someone who owns all the rights (e.g., a creator or a record label).

  2. My version of someone else’s song

    • Use this if your upload is a cover, remix, remake, or edit of someone else’s song.

  3. My creation, but I used tracks from other creators

    • Use this if your upload is a DJ mix, mashup, radio show, or podcast that includes tracks from other creators.

  4. Entirely someone else’s creation

    • Use this if you did not create the track yourself, or if you bought it online or downloaded it for free.

Once you submit your takedown dispute, our copyright team will review your submission and either approve or deny your appeal.
