If you got an email about this new feature but don’t see it when logging in, don’t worry! It’s not available to all users yet but will be soon.
A One-Time Password (OTP) is a temporary code we send to your email to help verify it’s really you when logging in.
If you currently have Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled, you may now be able to use a code sent to your email as a backup way to sign in instead of your authenticator app. This helps you get back into your account faster if you lose access to your authenticator app.
Availability depends on your account and regional availability.
Important Things to Know
Some accounts now have email OTP enabled as a backup verification method to 2FA. If you are not automatically opted-in you can enable it in your Account Settings.
Email OTP is helpful if:
- You got a new phone and lost access to your authenticator app
- Your authenticator app was deleted or reset
- You can’t generate a verification code
Using OTP as a backup makes signing in more flexible, but it’s important to enable additional security measures where possible. Use a strong password and keep your email account secure.
How to log in using an OTP
If you can’t access your authenticator app, you can try logging in with an email code:
- Go to the SoundCloud login page
- Enter your username/email and password
- On the verification screen, click “Try another method”
- Select “Send code to email”
- Check your email inbox for the one-time passcode
- Enter the code on the login screen
- You’ll be logged in to your account
If you don’t have access to your authenticator app and email OTP isn’t enabled on your account, you’ll need to contact support via our AI Agent for help recovering access.
