Manage Comments as a Creator

On SoundCloud, comments aren’t just feedback—they are real-time touchpoints with your community. Managing these interactions effectively helps you build a dedicated fanbase while keeping your profile a safe and professional space for your music.

Engaging with Fans

Responding to fans is the fastest way to turn a listener into a supporter. You can manage and reply to comments in two ways:

  • The Main Stream: Reply directly on your track’s waveform or on your track page.

  • Artist Studio (Artist Pro Exclusive): For those managing a busy catalog, the Artist Studio organizes all your track comments chronologically. This dedicated view allows you to track and respond to feedback across your entire discography from one central hub.

Moderation and Quiet Mode

As an artist, you have full control over the conversation on your tracks. If you want to limit distractions or maintain a specific aesthetic, you can use Quiet Mode (available with Artist Pro).

Quiet Mode allows you to:

  • Choose if fans are allowed to comment on your tracks.

  • Toggle whether existing comments are visible to the public.

  • Choose if you’d like to keep your track stats (like play counts) private.

To enable this, head to your track's Edit page and navigate to the Permissions tab.

Deleting and Reporting Comments

If a comment is off-brand, offensive, or spam, you can remove it permanently:

  1. Go to the track page on the web.

  2. Locate the comment below the waveform.

  3. Hover over the comment and click the trash can icon.

  4. Reporting: When deleting, you will also have the option to report the comment as spam. This helps our Trust & Safety team keep SoundCloud clean for everyone.

Note: Deleted comments are permanently removed and cannot be restored.

Troubleshooting: Why are comments missing?

If you can't see comments you expect to find, check the following:

  • Quiet Mode: Double-check your Permissions tab to ensure Quiet Mode hasn’t hidden the comments from the waveform.

  • Replaced Audio: If you used the Replace File feature with a shorter version of your song, comments from the "original" longer ending will still exist in the comment list but will no longer appear as avatars on the waveform.

  • Fan Deletion: If you received a notification but the comment is gone, the listener likely deleted their comment before you could view it.
