Reactions

What Are Reactions?
Reactions are a new way to show your love for tracks on SoundCloud — artists love to see signs that listeners are vibing with the music they release on SoundCloud, and fans to see excitement in the community as they listen to the same track in real time.

How Do I Use Them?

  • Add a Reaction: Open the full-screen player, find the interaction bar, and tap your favorite reaction emoji. It'll stick to that specific moment in the track for everyone to see.
  • See & Remove Reactions: Go to the Comments view to see reactions from others. If you change your mind, you can remove your own reactions here too.

Can I add more than one Reaction to a track?
Yes! Go wild. Reactions are attached to a specific timestamp in the song. You are able to add multiple of all types, if that is how you feel. We do have some common-sense limits to stop it getting too wild, but we doubt you’ll notice.

Can I pick different emojis?
Right now, you can only use our default set of reactions. We are exploring options to let you or the artist choose from a wider set of emojis in the future, so stay tuned for that.

Is it possible to turn them off?
Of course. Both fans and artists have control:

  • For Fans: We have extended the “Show Comments on Player” controls to also show or hide reactions.
    • iOS: Go to Settings > Social > Show Comments & Reactions on Player.
    • Android: Go to Settings > Basic Settings > Show Comments & Reactions on Player.
  • Artists: We have done the same with track level controls to “Allow Comments” and “Display Comments”. These can be found in the “Permissions” sessions of editing a track.
