How do I sell tracks as paid downloads?

If you’re an eligible Artist Pro creator in the United States, you can offer certain tracks as paid downloads on SoundCloud. When a fan buys your track, they get a file they can keep and download to their device.

You set up paid downloads in Artist Studio on web.

Before you start

To sell a track as a paid download, all of the following need to be true:

  • You’re on an eligible Artist Pro plan
  • Your account and track are eligible for paid downloads
  • The track has been monetized via SoundCloud's monetization process
  • The track is available in a supported region
  • The track meets any monetization or ownership requirements

If you don’t see the option to enable paid downloads, one of those requirements may not be met yet.

How to enable paid downloads for a track

  1. Open Artist Studio on web.
  2. Go to the track you want to sell.
  3. In the More Menu, select 'Sell track'
  4. Set the track price and optionally allow fans to pay an additional contribution
  5. Confirm your changes.

Once saved, the track can appear with a paid download option anywhere the feature is supported.

What fans get when they buy

When a fan buys your track:

  • The purchase is added to their Collection
  • They can download the track to their device
  • They may be able to choose from more than one file format, depending on what’s available for that track

Buying a download gives the fan a file they can keep. It doesn’t replace normal streaming on SoundCloud.

How pricing works

When you enable paid downloads, you’ll choose from the pricing option available for your track.

What fans pay at checkout may include:

  • The track price
  • Any applicable taxes based on the buyer’s location

The final total is shown to the buyer before payment is completed.

Can I change paid download settings later?

Yes. You can return to the same track settings on web to review or update how your track is offered.

For more on updating availability or pricing, see How do I manage paid download settings for my tracks?

Why the paid download option might not appear

You may not be able to enable paid downloads for a track when:

  • Your account isn’t on an eligible plan
  • The track doesn’t meet monetization or ownership requirements
  • Paid downloads aren’t available for that track or region
  • The feature hasn’t been enabled for your account yet

If you think the option should be available but don’t see it, contact support.

Need help?

If you’re having trouble enabling paid downloads, make sure you’re signed in to the correct artist account and that you’re editing an eligible track. If the option is still missing, contact support with the track URL and account details.
