Manage Privacy for Your SoundCloud Profile and Content

It’s not possible to make your account entirely private. The following will always be publicly available to anyone who visits your profile:

  • Your profile artwork, description, and website links
  • Your likes
  • Your re-posts
  • Comments you've made
  • Who you follow
  • Who follows you

However, you can make all your uploads and playlists private. This means no one can listen to your tracks without your explicit permission. You can read more about changing your track or playlist privacy settings here

Tips for Maintaining Privacy on SoundCloud

To protect your privacy:

  1. Regularly Update Privacy Settings:
    • Check and adjust your privacy settings often to control interactions and profile visibility.
  2. Manage Interactions:
    • Since likes, reposts, comments, and follows are always public, be selective about your interactions if you want to maintain a lower profile.
  3. Block Users:
    • Block someone to stop them from following, messaging, or commenting on your tracks. To block, visit their profile, click the three dots, and select "Block."
  4. Control Messages:
    • You can limit who can message you—either only your followers or anyone. Adjust this in your privacy settings under messaging options.
  5. Controlling Search Visibility:
    • You can't hide your profile from search engines through SoundCloud settings, but you can request removal or updates via Google Search Console.

What strategies can users employ to maintain privacy for specific content on SoundCloud?

To maintain privacy for specific content:

  1. Make Uploads and Playlists Private:
    • You have the option to make all of your uploads and playlists private. When you set content to private, it will not be visible or accessible to others unless you explicitly permit them.
    • This is a useful strategy for sharing content with a select audience or keeping certain tracks and playlists hidden from public view.
  2. Adjust Track and Playlist Privacy Settings:
    • If you want to control who can listen to your tracks or playlists, consider changing the privacy settings for each upload. You can make a track or playlist private at any time, even after it has been uploaded.
  3. Limit Public Information on Your Profile:
    • Although your profile artwork, description, and website links are public, you can choose to limit the amount of personal information you share in these sections. Consider using general or artist-related information rather than personal details.
