Can I recreate my digital distribution release on vinyl?

While you may want to distribute your next album or project on both digital platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and more, there will be some key differences to keep in mind when you build a release for physical distribution on vinyl.

Some things to keep in mind:

  1. Your track list may need to change. There is a limit to both the number of tracks and the length of your album when distributing on vinyl.
  2. Audio guidelines will be different. As you can imagine, printing your music on vinyl may sound different than how it may sound on a digital streaming platform. When we’re reviewing your vinyl release, we may need to request different audio files to ensure the sound will work on vinyl.
  3. Your artwork may need to change. If you’re using a smaller artwork file that might work great on digital platforms, keep in mind that it might look blurry or distorted once it’s in a larger format.

As with any type of distribution, it’s imperative that you provide us with accurate information about any licenses you’ve purchased for your music, even if it’s just a small sample or drum beat. When in doubt, disclose to us if you’ve used anything you didn’t personally play on an instrument or write with no other tools. You’ll be able to upload documentation when creating your release.
