How much audio can I upload for free?

As a free user on the SoundCloud Next plan, you can upload up to 2 hours of audio in total. The maximum file size per upload is 4GB. If a file exceeds this size or duration, you’ll need to split it into separate uploads.

If you need more upload space, you can upgrade to a SoundCloud Artist Pro plan, which offers unlimited uploads.

What audio formats can I upload?

SoundCloud supports a wide range of audio formats. For the best quality, it’s recommended to upload in lossless HD formats, such as:

- WAV, FLAC, AIFF, and ALAC

All uploads are stored in their original format and can be downloaded at any time on Go and Go+ plans via the Tracks page. Please visit our Upload Requirements for more details.

Can I upload multiple tracks at once?

Yes. SoundCloud supports bulk uploads, allowing you to upload multiple tracks in one action to help manage your music library more efficiently.

What should I know about copyright before uploading?

By uploading content, you confirm that you own the rights to your tracks or have permission to share them. SoundCloud takes copyright seriously, and uploads that infringe on others’ rights may be removed.

If you’re unsure about rights or licensing, review the SoundCloud Copyright Help Center before uploading.

What happens if I exceed the 2-hour free upload limit?

If your account goes over the 2-hour limit:

- You won’t be able to upload new tracks until you reduce your total upload time.

- You can either delete older tracks or upgrade to an Artist Pro plan for unlimited uploads.

What happens if I downgrade from Artist Pro to the free plan?

If you downgrade and have more than 2 hours of uploaded audio:

- Your oldest tracks will be hidden from listeners.

- Hidden tracks remain safely stored on SoundCloud.

- Engagement data (plays, likes, comments) is preserved and restored if tracks are unhidden later.

- Tracks are never deleted unless you choose to delete them.

To unhide tracks, you’ll need to delete enough audio to get below the 2-hour limit or upgrade again.

Can anyone listen to my hidden tracks?

No. Hidden tracks:

- Cannot be streamed or downloaded by others

- Are hidden from playlists

- Show a disabled player if someone visits the track page

- Hide comments and stats from public view

How can I optimize uploads for discoverability?

To help more listeners find your music:

- Use clear, descriptive titles so tracks are easy to search.

- Add relevant tags (genre, mood, style).

- Write engaging descriptions that provide context or inspiration.

- Upload high-quality artwork that visually reflects your track.

- Engage with your community by sharing tracks and interacting with listeners.
