We introduced Direct Support Links after venues worldwide closed unexpectedly. Talking with creators, we saw how COVID-19 cancellations hurt finances, so we quickly created a way to help during these uncertain times.

Direct Support Links let you add a single link to your profile, directing supporters to an app or site where they can offer financial help if you choose to enable it.

Currently, we support links for donations, fundraising, memberships, crowdfunding, or direct sales of your music and merchandise.

What are the best practices for promoting these support links and making them more effective?

To ensure your support links are effective:

Select the Right Platform: Choose a platform that your fans trust and are familiar with. SoundCloud currently supports platforms like PayPal, Cash App, Venmo, Bandcamp, Shopify, Patreon, Kickstarter, and GoFundMe.

Promote Across Channels: Share your support link across all your social media profiles, newsletters, and live streams to reach as many fans as possible.

Engage with Your Fans: Be transparent about how the funds will be used, whether for new music projects, covering living expenses, or other needs. This transparency can encourage more fans to contribute.

How can I add a support link to my profile?

1. While using a web browser on your computer, go to your profile page on a desktop.
2. Click the “Edit” button. 
3. Go to “Your links” and click the “Add fan support link”. 
4. Add your preferred payment link.
5. Click “Save changes.”
6. The new support module will be shown like this on your profile.

How can I change or remove the Direct Support Link?

1. To change or remove a support link, return to the “Your links” section on your profile edit page.
2. Find your support link, make the necessary changes, or click the trash icon to remove it.
3. Click “Save changes” to finalize your updates.

Does SoundCloud take a fee on these transactions?

No. We don’t take a fee or make a commission on any support offered during this initiative. Any money you earn through this is yours to keep. We are literally just letting you pick a link and making it super prominent.  

Keep in mind, however, whichever platform you use likely does take a fee, and you should familiarize yourself with their terms of service and fee structure to understand which option is best for you.
