Common Errors During Sign Up

First, check to see if we are experiencing troubles on site by visiting our Status Blog. This may explain why you are having difficulties creating an account.

What error message are you seeing?

We couldn't sign you up

[For iOS users] You may be using an old version of our app for which email signup has been disabled. Please upgrade to the latest version or sign up with Facebook or Google.

Our robots think this signup/sign-in looks too much like spam

If you're having trouble signing up to SoundCloud and keep seeing this error message, this is because the location you're coming from is getting flagged by our anti-spam systems as suspicious.

How do the anti-spam systems work, and what might trigger these flags?

  • Platforms like SoundCloud use anti-spam systems to detect and block suspicious activities.
  • They monitor IP addresses, flagging multiple account creations from the same IP.
  • Unusual browser behavior, such as rapid clicks or signups, may be flagged as automated.
  • Signups from regions with high spam rates can also be marked as suspicious.
  • While these systems help prevent abuse, legitimate users may get blocked. Switching networks, devices, or email addresses can sometimes help bypass these filters.

What can I do to resolve this issue?

  • Switch to another browser or use a different device.
  • Try signing up from a different network (e.g., a different Wi-Fi connection).
  • Use a different email address to create the account.
  • Disable VPN if using one.

When signing up, it says my email is already in use

It may be that you already have a SoundCloud account, and you don’t know it! This can happen when you sign up with Facebook, and it is connected to your email. Try signing in with Facebook, and see if you have an account.
