Creators who are subject to the transparency requirements of the EU AI Act (“the Act”) under Article 50(4), are encouraged to disclose that their covered content is "AI-generated or manipulated" within their track description on SoundCloud.
Please keep in mind that uploading any content that has been generated or manipulated with AI to SoundCloud must strictly comply with SoundCloud’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Use (our “platform policies”), including our platform policies on copyright, impersonation, harassment, misinformation, hateful or abusive content, and unlawful or harmful content.
Creators are responsible for making sure that any AI tools used to generate or modify audio, lyrics, artwork, or other content respect the copyright and other legal rights of other artists and rightsholders, creators, and individuals.
AI-generated or manipulated content must also not intentionally mislead listeners about its authenticity, origin, or the identity of the creator - impersonation and identity theft is strictly forbidden. This includes using AI tools, such as voice-cloning or likeness-generation tools, to imitate or represent another artist, creator, or individual in a way that is unauthorised, misleading, or otherwise violates SoundCloud’s policies.
This guidance is intended to help creators to understand SoundCloud’s expectations around AI-generated and AI-manipulated content. Creators are responsible for understanding and complying with any legal obligations that may apply to them, including under the EU AI Act.
