Enable and disable downloads for your tracks

Enabling downloads lets your listeners keep a copy of the original file format you uploaded to SoundCloud. For individual tracks, you can enable or disable downloads through the track's Permissions tab.

Free users have a download limit of 100 downloads per track, while Artist Pro users have unlimited downloads available for their tracks. You can upgrade to Artist Pro here.
 

You can enable or disable downloads for multiple tracks at once through your Tracks page. Simply select the tracks you want to change the download settings for, click the small pencil symbol, and choose ‘Advanced Settings’.

Distributing content without permission is unlawful. Make sure you have all the necessary rights.
 

Editing a single track:

1. Go to the track you want to enable downloads for.
2. Click on the "Edit" button (pencil icon) under the track's waveform.
3. Go to the "Permissions" tab.
4. Check the box labeled "Enable Downloads."
5. Save your changes. 

Editing multiple tracks:

1. Go to your tracks page (https://soundcloud.com/artists) 
2. Select the tracks you wish to edit
3. Click the small pencil icon and choose "Advanced settings"
4. Toggle on/off the 'Enable direct downloads' option
5. Save the changes.

Enable or disable app playback for your track

If you would like to restrict playback of your track, you can choose to disable app playback through your track's Permissions tab. Disabling app playback prevents supported third-party integrations from streaming your track via the SoundCloud API. This setting does not affect playback on SoundCloud itself or through official SoundCloud embeds.
 

You can disable or enable app playback through the track’s edit page in the ‘Permissions’ tab. Access this edit page at any time through the pencil icon under it's waveform. 

Displaying an embed code for your track

Embed codes allow your track to be shared to blogs and websites through our embedded players. You can make the embed code private, and only visible for yourself, or enable it for anyone to share through your track's Advanced Settings and Permissions tab.
 

Please note: making the embed code private will not disable embedded players for that track that are already being used. 

If you receive reports that some users cannot download your content, they must be signed into their SoundCloud account first before the download option is enabled. Anonymous downloads are not permitted.

Enable or disable Offline Listening

As you build your audience on SoundCloud, making your tracks available for offline listening is a great way to increase your plays and deepen your relationship with your fans. Offline listening is a feature of SoundCloud Go.

You can control availability of your track for offline listening through your track’s edit page in the Permissions tab. If you disable availability for offline listening, your track will only be playable when your listener is online through the SoundCloud website, apps, or embeds. 

Engagement privacy

If you have a Artist Pro plan, you also have the option to enable some privacy settings on your tracks. This allows you to:

• Choose if you'd like people to be able to comment on your tracks
• Choose to have comments displayed
• Choose if you'd like to have your track Insights (likes, reposts, plays) displayed

On Web, manage these track settings from the track’s edit page under Advanced settings Open it anytime by clicking the three dots next to the track on your tracks page or beneath the track's waveform.
