Edit your track's privacy settings

When you upload a track to SoundCloud, you have two basic availability options: Public and Private. As an Artist Pro user, you also have the third option to schedule your uploads, allowing you to choose the date and time when your tracks become live.

To change the sharing settings of your track, click on the pen icon under the waveform, click the bubble next to the words ‘private, ‘public,’ or ‘scheduled,’ and then click save. Learn how to schedule a release here

Public tracks: Anyone can listen to your track, and it will show up immediately on your SoundCloud profile page and in your followers’ Streams.

Private tracks: These are hidden from your followers after upload. You can share them exclusively via private links. Private tracks won't appear on your public profile and can't be searched for within SoundCloud.

Share a private track

Secret links are reliable and quick to use. They can be shared outside of SoundCloud, as well as in SoundCloud messages.

Secret links have additional tokens at the end of the URL. This secret token is a unique set of characters added to the end of a private SoundCloud track’s URL, making the link unsearchable and unguessable. Only people with this secret link can access the track, ensuring privacy and controlled sharing.

How can I reset a private link?

If you have shared a private track or playlist, you have the ability to revoke access or reset this secret link so it will no longer open for those who may still have the link. To reset your private links directly on Soundcloud.com:

  1. Click the Share button below the track's waveform
  2. Click “Reset secret link.”
  3. You'll be asked to confirm the reset. Just go ahead and click 'Reset.'
  4. Share the new link with anyone you want to

Please note: Resetting any previous private links is not reversible, so make sure you’re distributing your new private link to anyone who might need it.
